Ryan Goetz

Piano | Theory

Ryan Goetz is a collaborative pianist, teacher, and coach in Greater Vancouver. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Saskatchewan, where he studied with Bonnie Nicholson, and a Master of Music degree (with distinction) from the University of British Columbia, where he studied under Corey Hamm and Sarah Davis Buechner. Ryan has also attended numerous performance programs including the Vancouver International Song Institute (BC), Orford Arts Academy (Quebec), and the Franz-Schubert-Institut (Austria) where he has studied under the likes of Elly Ameling, Julius Drake, Helmut Deutsch, and Martin Katz.

He has performed in numerous national competitions including the Canadian Music Competition and the SMFA National Competition. An advocate of new music, Mr. Goetz is regularly involved in the performance of original works in British Columbia and Saskatchewan. He frequently performs as a solo and collaborative pianist, including the Behre Piano Associates, Inc. annual Carnegie Hall concert at the Weill Recital Hall in New York City. He currently works as a collaborative pianist and vocal coach at UBC where he regularly performs with undergraduate and graduate students throughout the year. With over a decade of teaching and collaborative experience, Ryan is passionate about connecting practice methodologies with performance skills. He strongly believes in a holistic approach, bringing together the physical, intellectual, and creative aspects of music learning in a way that encourages consistent development from a strong foundation.
