Andrea Marek

Andrea Marek is a passionate and dedicated teacher with over 22 years of experience. She is an instructor of piano, accordion and musical theory, and has taught at schools such as the City Academy of Musical Arts (Vancouver, British Columbia), the Eckhardt-Gramatte Conservatory of Music at Brandon University (Brandon, Manitoba), and the British Columbia Conservatory of Music. She is also a freelance performer and accompanist, working with instrumentalists and singers of all levels participating in competitions, practical examinations, and recitals. She is a composer of music for piano and violin; several of her compositions have been published and used in music festivals across Canada.
From her nursing background, Andrea draws on her knowledge of human development, psychology, and learning theory to engage, motivate, and inspire students of all ages and levels to achieve their musical personal best; within a dynamic and fun learning environment. Her students regularly win medals in local music festivals such as Kiwanis and British Columbia Conservatory of Music, as well as earning high marks in practical and theory examinations from notable examining boards such as The Royal Conservatory of Music, British Columbia Conservatory of Music, and London College of Music, University of West London. Several of her students have pursued music studies professionally, attending prestigious post-secondary institutions such as the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto.
When not teaching or performing, Andrea enjoys her other passions: reading, spending time with her kitten, and figure skating.
