Helena Jung
Cello | Violin | Viola
Helena Jung is a dedicated music educator and performer with over 30 years of teaching experience in cello, violin, and viola. Her students have achieved notable success, including finalist placements at the Vancouver International Music Competition, BC Provincials, and other major competitions. Several have gone on to perform with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and as soloists with the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra.
Helena’s teaching philosophy combines technical excellence with expressive artistry, grounded in her extensive performance career. She has appeared as a soloist in her long-running Cellobration recital series and has performed with the Vancouver Island Symphony since 2005. Previously, she held positions with the Gyeonggi Provincial Philharmonic Orchestra in South Korea and the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra in Europe.
Helena earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Cello Performance in Seoul, Korea. A certified Suzuki Violin and Viola Teacher (SOSI and ISM), she is the founder of Kids on Strings and co-founder of Hello Strings. She currently works as an ensemble coach in Richmond and performs with Schubertiade in Vancouver.
