Piano
Nina Wang is a musical artist pursuing her studies in piano performance at the University of British Columbia under the guidance of Dr. David Fung and Dr. Wayne Weng. She began her piano journey at the age of four and obtained her ARCT diploma in piano performance in 2019.
Nina has performed throughout North America both as a soloist and collaborator at renowned music festivals and programs, including the Banff Chamber Music Residency, Orford Academy of Music, and the Anchorage Chamber Music Festival. An active collaborative pianist, she works regularly with instrumentalists and vocalists, creating engaging and dynamic performances. Her artistry has been recognized through several awards at various competitions such as the Vancouver Westcoast Music Society, Ambrose Matilda International Music Competition, and the Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival.
Nina’s teaching philosophy centers on engaging each student’s creativity and building a safe, interactive environment that nurtures each student’s trust in their own abilities. She believes in taking a well-rounded approach which incorporates strengthening musical skills through ear training (singing, listening), movement (Dalcroze Eurythmics), and healthy technique (Taubman approach). She also tailors lessons to every student’s individual needs/strengths and learning styles. Having fallen in love with the process of learning the piano, Nina’s mission is to share that passion with all her students and inspire them to discover the artist within themselves
