A Sad Story (Op. 63 No. 10) - Streabbog
The main purpose of this study is to achieve balanced finger control (voicing) between the melody and accompaniment in the same hand - in this case, the right. The eighth note accompaniment is to remain soft throughout. A soft sound is produced by depressing the key slowly. This is achieved by keeping the fingers close to or even “attached” to the keys avoiding a long finger drop or finger stroke. By making the key go down quickly the hammer strikes the strings at a greater velocity producing a louder tone.
