Gypsy Dance (Op. 45 No. 18) - Heller
This study, in triple meter, features a sixteenth note figure for the right hand over a left hand waltz-like accompaniment. The accent on beat three of the opening motive, which appears numerous times throughout the work must be well defined. Both rhythmic and legato pedaling are also featured in the study. In measures 9-12 and 29-32, each right hand octave may be released with a gentle upward motion of the wrist allowing the wrist to be in position to drop onto the “tenuto” quarter notes.
